What is a Schnitzel?

A Schnitzel is a dish made with boneless meat thinned with a mallet (escalope-style preparation), coated in bread crumbs and fried. It is a popular dish in many countries and is made from veal or pork. The different toppings give the Schnitzel its name and character.
